Mi primera nota en la edición gráfica de Revista Weekend de octubre, tras una treintena en la web. De la mano de Cristian Di Paolo y Nadir Dupuy, los llevo a conocer un poco de la pesca de lenguados con mosca, una empresa que parece complicada pero que lejos está de ello.
La pandemia no nos deja movernos, y miles de argentinos se ven privados de empuñar una caña en sus ámbitos preferidos. No queda otra que disfrutar pescas ajenas y aprovecharnos de nuestros amigos que relevan por nosotros los distintos pesqueros.
Ya nos vamos acostumbrando a esto de contarles historias de otros, en tiempos donde la pesca en el ámbito bonaerense es casi exclusiva para los residentes locales, salvo escasas excepciones. El partido de Mar Chiquita no escapa a ello, y su amplia riqueza está disponible para un número bajo de cañofilos, quienes pueden disfrutar de canales, arroyos, playas y la mágica albufera, esa extensa pampa líquida de casi 6.000 hectáreas, llena de pejerreyes, lenguados, lisas, corvinas negras y otras tantas especies que pueblan sus aguas.
La albufera de Mar Chiquita es única en Sudamérica y se la denomina así porque recibe el aporte de agua dulce de arroyos de la cuenca continental, que nacen del sistema serrano de Tandilia. El mar le aporta agua salada en creciente y saca agua dulce en bajante, generando un mosaico de aguas salobres, donde coexisten distintas especies marinas y dulceacuícolas.
Dentro de ella, hallamos tanto el Paralichthys orbignyanus, como el Oncopterus darwinii, nombres científicos de las dos especies de lenguado que habitan la zona. Agazapados, esperando su presa, los encontraremos instalados en el fondo del lecho, mimetizados como pocos pueden hacerlo, ya que logra con leves movimientos oscilantes que una fina capa de arena o barro lo recubra, dejando sólo afuera sus ojos. Ese camuflado se complementa con una cualidad asombrosa, la capacidad de adoptar en su piel, la coloración de su entorno, que varía según su lugar de aposento, esto gracias a unas glándulas subcutáneas denominadas cromatóforos. Allí, casi como una piedra en el fondo, espera por sus presas, ya sean crustáceos, moluscos o cornalitos, aunque su devoción son los pequeños pejerreyes, a los que intentamos imitar con nuestros intentos artificiales.
Hablaremos de lenguados, una de las especies más exquisitas gastronómicamente y con un alto valor deportivo, que podemos pescar de distintas modalidades. A la tradicional pesca que realizamos tanto en bait o spinning, vadeando o en trolling, desde hace tiempo viene mostrando un aumento sostenido la cantidad de pescadores que lo hacen con mosca. Hace pocos años, eran muy pocos esos seguidores, y hoy ya no es raro ver gente mosqueando en los tradicionales reductos donde se veía, antes, sólo pescadores con carnada. Los resultados son otros también, y por momentos, el rinde con fly es ampliamente superior a lo natural, esto debido a ese crecimiento que hablamos, con más cañas intentándolo, con más horas de aprendizaje y de estudio del comportamiento de una especie apasionante como el lenguado. Aunque parezca mentira, la pesca con mosca y el lenguado se llevan cada vez mejor.
Quedó en el baúl de los recuerdos aquello de que arrancaban a picar en noviembre, que en los meses más fríos no estaban activos, y la exclusividad de pescar la especie en la boca de la albufera. De un tiempo a la fecha, se han dado temporadas que no aflojó en todo el año, y otras donde los rindes decayeron, por eso, en este atípico 2020, había que tener un panorama de la zona, y convocamos a un referente, Cristian Di Paolo para que nos cuente lo que se estaba viviendo por estos días en un ambiente que, sin dudas, es el lugar perfecto para realizar una pesca de lenguados, tanto para hacerlo con carnada natural, como en fly cast.
“El Tuba”, como es popularmente conocido, nos adelantaba que desde finales de agosto la laguna empieza a mostrarse de la mejor manera, con buenas condiciones, tanto de transparencia como de temperatura, tras, este año sí, casi tres meses de actividad escasa en todas las modalidades. Esa primera quincena entregó condiciones que no eran las adecuadas, con un ámbito de baja profundidad donde castigan las térmicas cercanas al cero y donde los intentos por dar con los lenguados, fueron fallidos. Con el correr de los días, las aguas se aclararon y comenzaron a darse los resultados positivos, primero con carnada y después con mosca.
Cristian nos cuenta que ingresan por el recreo San Gabriel, ubicado en el Km 477 de la Ruta 11, un punto estratégico que nos permite llegar, con una corta navegación, a los lugares claves para pescar la especie con mosca, como lo son la zona de Punta Ondina, Punta Pejerrey y el Paso de Gómez. Calzados de waders, vadeando, en sus últimas visitas comenzaron a dar con ejemplares de todo tamaño con fly. Bien temprano, los piques fueron esquivos, pero llegado el mediodía todo cambio, en un agua totalmente cristalina, se veían los lenguados salir con sus típicas corridas, dejando una estela interminable en el barro.
Al comienzo de la temporada, se encuentran muy aletargados, cuesta hacerlos comer y los ataques son débiles, como así también, la pelea que se va a ir incrementándose de la mano de la temperatura. La albufera permite ese privilegio de pescar a pez visto, una opción que no todos los lugares permiten y hacen aún más interesante esta pesca, siendo un excelente lugar para los que quieren arrancar con esta modalidad, ya que no es necesaria mucha técnica ni ser un gran caster para practicarla.
Para pescar con Fly, se emplean cañas de # 5 al # 8, siendo los números del centro los ideales, aunque muchas veces podemos encontrarnos con ejemplares que superan las dos cifras en la balanza, y se torna una empresa difícil la captura con equipos chicos, donde deberemos demostrar nuestra baquía. En el reel, no es necesario un freno importante, y todo el equipo debe ser apto para agua salada, por el deterioro que sufre en esta pesca. Líneas de flote, líderes de nylon común de buena calidad de aproximadamente 2 metros de largo, de 0,50 mm a 0,40 mm de diámetro.
En cuanto a las moscas, en este inicio de temporada se destacaron las CaMo Red y la Clouser Minnow, en tonos verde chartrouse y rojo. Investigando un poco sobre su historia, sobre las CaMo el modelo original fue creado por Carlos Montañez, uno de los pioneros en la pesca con mosca en agua salada del Uruguay, de allí el nombre. El modelo es una variante de las famosas Cluosers, pero con características que las hacen distintivas, como son su cuerpo de lana ribeteado, y el intenso color rojo que innova sobre todo lo conocido. La Minnow, es un patrón inventado por Bob Clouser para la pesca costera en el mar, sumamente eficaz y con la ventaja de trabajar, como la otra, con el anzuelo invertido, ideal para zonas de baja profundidad o con enganches.
Una de las claves en esta pesca, es manejar la lucha cuando se queda sin agua, como todo pez bentónico, al igual que las rayas o el chucho, ya que en ese momento despliega todo su potencial.
Si optamos por la tradicional pesca con carnada, usamos cañas de entre 2,40 y 2,70 metros y reels chicos frontales o rotativos cargados con nylon 0,35 mm o multifilamento de 0,18 mm. La línea puede ser de una o dos brazoladas, sobre la que correrá una boyita elevadora alargada sujetada entre dos nudos corredizos, y rematando la misma con un tandem compuesto de un anzuelo simple corredizo, que cumple la función de tensor, y un triple.
Los pejerreyes deben oscilar entre los 10 y 15 cm, se los descabeza longitudinalmente y se encarna de manera que el primer anzuelo ingrese por debajo de la columna y salga por el lomo, asegurando con un hilo mágico, y traspasamos el orificio anal por una de las lancetas del triple. La línea se remata con un plomito, según nuestro referente, tipo palito uruguayo o almeja. Podemos pescar troleando, opción que nos da más chances, ya que iremos en una embarcación chica navegando despacio y tratando de pasar la línea por los veriles de la laguna.
Vadeando en spinning, la boca es un buen destino, pero pican en punta los destinos ya tradicionales nombrados anteriormente, dentro de la laguna, donde podemos meter muy buenas pescas. El desafío está planteado, el lenguado promueve una diversión asegurada, ya sea con mosca, con carnada, en spinning, en trolling o al vadeo. Distintas formas de pesca que encierran una especie que cada vez tiene más adeptos.
