Historias de “Las 24”: Los tandilenses ganaron en el ´98

1998 era el año del Mundial de Fútbol en Francia, y también era la temporada de la 37ma edición de «Las 24». Un año que le iba a caer muy bien a la ciudad de Tandil, que por primera vez iba a festejar un triunfo en las “24 horas de la corvina negra”, y por partida doble.

El concurso volvía a enero, tras su paso por el mes de febrero, y contaba con la presencia de 2183 participantes, una cifra que se convertía en la más baja de las últimas temporadas, ya que deberíamos remitirnos a 1979, cuando 1850 pescadores se daban cita a la 18va edición. Las negras volvían a estar presentes, (hasta el 97, sólo habían faltado 8 veces a la cita), y los camioneros tandilenses, Antonio y Orlando Andrés iban a convertirse en los ganadores del torneo. En la zona del barco hundido lograron sendas corvinas de 2,512 y 1,362 kilogramos respectivamente y se llevaron los dos 0 Km a los pagos de la Piedra Movediza. Antonio se haría acreedor de un Peugeot 205, y su hijo, de un Fiat Uno. Otro tandilense iba a tener éxito, en la variada, Andrés Rezola, con un chucho de 10.300 kg. En el torneo paralelo de variada, Omar Carrera logró un chucho de 23,740 kg, y se llevó otro Uno, con esa captura en el Cuarto Salto, un pesquero que suele ser “corvinero”, pero que le dio el chucho de su vida encarnando con lisa y camarón. Fue una revancha para este pescador, que en 1997 se quedó con la espina de perder un 0 km por 10 gramos, al ser tercero en aquel torneo que ganó Osvaldo Cuello, de General Belgrano. Fabian Soto fue segundo en la variada, con otro soberbio chucho de 13,350 kg, y tercero el de Tres Arroyos, Juan Monterrosa, con un chucho de 12,950 kg. Aquella 37ma edición quedaba en la historia por ser la de los tandilenses, y también de las dudas. El Diario La Voz del Pueblo de Tres Arroyos hacía mención hace algunos años al recuerdo de aquel concurso, y decía “los controles levantaron las piezas a la 3 de la mañana pero al día siguiente se alzaron distintas voces en el sentido de que los dos pichones habían estado enjaulados en el río y que los Andrés nunca habían andado por Reta”. La historia nunca se pudo comprobar, el Club Cazadores no encontró nada raro, y las piezas fueron las ganadoras. Los mitos, las historias, las dudas y demás yerbas, siempre estarán en este tipo de torneos de larga duración. Son hechos lamentables, pero se encuentra una organización como el Club Cazadores de Tres Arroyos que se desvela para que la transparencia sea la base fundamental del éxito. Tirando la línea, el tradicional segmento de los sábados del diario «El Eco de Tandil», con la pluma del recordado Alberto Tripodi titulaba en su crónica «La pesca tandilense a nivel nacional», con un detallado informe de las capturas de los cañofilos serranos.
