En cada lugar que usted esté leyendo esta nota, usted puede intentar pescar con mosca. Hay lugares donde la variedad de técnicas y especies que pueden pescar es muy amplia, que necesitaría de un buen rato para intentar desglosarlas. Pero, en Tandil, sólo con un lago artificial, y todos los pesqueros a más de un centenar de kilómetros, debemos adaptarnos a lo que hay, y entre esas opciones, una es lo que llaman, el Urban Fly, ni más ni menos que pesca urbana realizada en cualquier curso de agua dentro o cercano a una ciudad o población.

Para muchos, la pesca con mosca se remite a escenarios distantes, ya sean los clásicos ríos trucheros del sur o la pesca de dorados en el norte argentino. Esa gran mayoría obvia un vasto abanico de ámbitos y especies. Tarariras, bagres, pejerreyes, carpas y una variada ultraliviana de chanchitas, mojarrones y dientudos pueblan pesqueros que están muy cerca de casa y nos permite mantenernos activos sin tener que esperar a viajar muchos kilómetros. Nuestro sistema serrano de Tandilia da lugar a innumerables cursos que drenan hacia todos los puntos cardinales, cauces que proponen divertidísimos momentos pescando con equipitos livianos y ninfas o ministreamers derivados en la corriente o sobre aguas más lentas dependiendo las especies. Esto sumado, al amplio espectro que tenemos en equipos, de todo precio y calidad, hacen de esta una posibilidad bárbara, y muy tentadora.

En los últimos tiempos, recorriendo nuestros arroyos cercanos y el Lago del Fuerte de Tandil, notamos cada vez más amantes del fly revoleando sus moscas por el aire serrano, desafiando esa frase descalificadora que nació en los lagos de Palermo, pero se puede ampliar a Tandil: “anda a pescar chanchitas al lago”. La pesca de esos ejemplares, más conocidos como Chatas, es una tarea por demás exigente y requiere de una importante técnica y aprendizaje. Zapico Antuña, una de las plumas más importantes que ha dado esta actividad decía en 1965 en su libro Spinning Pesca Calificada “La humilde chanchita no es más que el aristocrático Bluegill de los americanos; claro que no es lo mismo leerlo en Outdoor Life o en Field and Stream (calificadas revistas estadounidenses de actividades al aire libre), que decir que lo hemos pescado con mosca en una laguna”. Las chanchitas o chatas prefieren aguas lentas, vegetadas y cristalinas. Las más grandes, no se pescan, diríamos que se cazan con los ojos. Por ello, es clave la elección del día, que debe ser cálido, soleado sin viento que arrugue la superficie o enturbie el agua, anulando la visión y las horas con sol bien arriba son las mejores, ya que la luz baja las vuelve casi imperceptibles. La principal enemiga es la tararira, y se tornan más agresivas si están cuidando a sus crías. Estos ejemplares toman secas, Minipoppers o Foam Spiders, y los mejores resultados se obtienen con ninfas, húmedas, scuds o gusanitos. Maximiliano Mendiri, uno de los aficionados locales con más experiencia en estas pescas en Tandil, nos mostraba sus moscas que le dan buenos resultados. Muchas son creaciones propias, inspiraciones en las mesas de atado o en las peñas mosqueras, y otras las clásicas Wooly Worm, Destroyer Dientudo, MOP fly y hormigas de goma eva, la mayoría atadas, según la especie a buscar, con anzuelos N° 8 a 10, o N° 14 a 18. Al pescar ejemplares de escasos gramos en muchas ocasiones, se trata de una tarea mucho más difícil de lo que la mayoría piensa y allí radica la magia. Si se logra tomarle la mano a esta técnica, prácticamente estamos en condiciones de tentar a cualquier trucha. Nos hablan de que el equipo ideal para estas pescas es el más liviano posible, cañas en el rango de entre número #1 al #5 siendo los números #3 y #4 los más versátiles. Para pescar peces tan pequeños, estamos obligados a usar moscas chicas, y, por ende, diminutos anzuelos. Diría que para mojarras y pequeños dientudos las imitaciones de pequeñas larvas en anzuelos tamaño #18 a #20 son las más efectivas.

El plato fuerte en tamaño en la zona son las carpas, quizás las que mayor tamaño dimensionan. Estos ejemplares presentan un desafío constante desde el punto que hay que visualizarlos. No siempre están comiendo lo mismo, hay que observar su actitud, ver si están tomando arriba o en el fondo, y siempre es una pesca a pez visto, aunque esto también depende del ambiente y de la turbidez del agua. A las carpas si no las vemos no las pescamos, y si pescamos, es simplemente casual. En esta pesca si vamos tras carpines de hasta 1,500 grs, un equipo N.º 3 o 4 es la opción más divertida. Pero con peces promedios de 3 kg. (y expectativas de 6 a 8 kg.) el equipo mínimo es un numero 5. En cuanto a moscas, mucha variedad se prueba. Pica en punta la famosa Rivas Lodge CDC, una creación de Ernesto “Lalo” Alonso. Para pejes, las imitaciones de mojarras con marabú y los denominados perdigones se llevan las palmas. La pesca de las carpas se ha vuelto una pasión para muchos en esta modalidad, que genera desde clínicas intensivas como las realizadas por Planeta Pesca y Club de Pesca Tandil, ambas con Mendiri como referente, hasta biblias para el pescador, como “Tabú con Escamas”, una obra del calificado Diego Flores, uno de los expertos en esta apasionante especie, que en un par de semanas verá a calle una nueva edición actualizada.Amplia oferta para el pescador deportivo que no necesita desandar largos kilómetros para dar rienda suelta a la pesca con mosca. Un impresionante abanico de opciones se abre a escasa distancia de cada pescador. Es cuestión de animarse e ir por emociones y momentos que serán difíciles de olvidar.
